Christopher Hästbacka, born in Stockholm, Sweden began playing the piano at the age of 6.
He made his international debut at the age of 12 when he played for a full house in Laeiszehalles Grand Hall in Hamburg at a Steinway international piano festival after winning the first price in the 2001 Steinway competition.
Christopher has been finalist and won several prices in national and international competitions. He has also participated in masterclasses since the age of 7, with pianists such as Liisa Pohjola, Hans Leygraf, Andrei Gavrilov etc. He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and Edsbergs manor for prof. Stefan Bojsten and prof. Mats Widlund.
2016 was a great year for Christopher. He became runner up in the most distinguished competition for classical musicians in Sweden, Solistpriset 2016.
He also held a solo recital at Grünewaldsalen at the Stockholm Concert House and was given the Marianne & Sigvard Bernadotte Art Awards.
Christopher works as a soloist and chamber musician around Europe. He has played with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the concert was broadcasted live on Swedish national radio. The conductors he has worked with are among others B Tommy Andersson and Jaime Martin.
After the Solistpriset and his great achievements of 2016 he has established himself as one of Sweden's most interesting young pianists.
