Daniel Hormazábal

Biography
Daniel Hormazábal is one of the most interesting and successful young Swedish pianists today. He debuted as a soloist in 2013 with Beethoven’s fifth Piano Concerto together with the Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra conducted by Simon Crawford-Phillips. In recent years Hormazábal has had an extensive performance schedule which has taken him to countries such as USA, Canada, Italy, France and the Czech Republic. In October 2016 his debut solo recital for a full house in Grünewald - salen at the Stockholm Concert Hall met with great acclaim.

Hormazábal discovered his passion for the piano at the age of 11 when he walked past a practice room in primary school where a student was playing. Fascinated and moved he decided there and then to become a pianist. Since then he has moved from the local music school in Upplands Väsby where he grew up, via Södra Latin High School, to the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and Edsberg Manor where he in 2011 became the only student admitted to the masters program in piano performance, and later soloist diploma studies under the tutelage of Prof. Mats Widlund.

Hormazábal is a modern classical musician, already established with the traditional audience, who also has a great interest in connecting with younger listeners and spark their interest in classical music by challenging the conventional concert form. He possesses a wide range of classical piano repertoire through which he successfully and in a personal way has introduced classical music to a younger audience in several productions at e.g. the Royal Opera in Stockholm.
